The Open Registration Of Cultivars (OROC) program is an international project to promote free, fair, scientific, and responsive documentation of ornamental landscape trees, shrubs, vines, hardy herbaceous perennials, and interior plants. Unlike the existing ISHS-ICRA system which has registered less than 2% of known, new woody plants, we found and we sent more than 92 pages of new cultivar data by our partners. All our registers are 100% free in the public interest. Even better, under our simple OROC Data Sharing rules, you may cut and past our text into your book, textbook, blog, social post, catalog, or other documents under a free, fair sharing system.

About The Author

Larry Hatch is a co-founder of OROC as well as several other ornamental plant organizations, including the New Ornamentals Society (now Cultivar.org), the International Coleus Society, and VarCon (Variety Conservation Group). In 1992 and lasting more than a decade, he posted the New Plant Page, the internet's first guide to new landscape plants which had not only new plant photos but links on where to buy them. That morphed into the books Cultivars of Woody Plants (4000+ pages), Hatch's Perennials, and HITS (House, Interior, Tropical, and Succulent) Plants.
